I am sorry to hear this. As a very good friend and colleague to my dad, Tom Buckman (former president of the foundation center), I remember Richard as a very friendly and engaged man. What a full and impressive life he had! My condolences to Gloria and family.

Dear Gloria and family
Dick was a wonderful man and a wonderful boss. He gave me a chance at a job I loved - for 10 years. He was a great boss, smart and very supportive.
He was a role model at Ford and continued to be a beacon for so many after Ford. His important writings and many other contributions ( such as LAFF) will live on.
I will miss him ( and his sparkle ) in many ways.
I hope the deep admiration of so many friends and colleagues will give you and your family comfort.
Warm wishes,
Leslie

My Dad always wanted to be as erudite as Dick. And if he hadn't take the family to Switzerland in 1973, I wouldn't have all of those fabulous letters from Claudia -- which, like his letter to the Editor to the New York Times, will stand the test of time.

Dick was a cherished colleague for 25 years. His experience, always shared with humor, enriched any gathering. I was happy to catch up with him and Gloria in Atlanta briefly. A rich and meaningful life well lived.
