BURSTEIN--Irving, 86, of Riverdale, NY and Coconut Creek, FL died Saturday August 17, of cardiac arrest. Loving husband of Claire for 63 years. Beloved father of Larry, Paula, and Diane. Adored grandfather of Bari, Erin, Walter, Grace and Luke and loving father-in-law to Nancy, Lenny, and John. A lifelong New Yorker and graduate of George Washington High School, he served in World War II aboard the air craft carrier USS Antietam, and was called up again during the Korean War. Irv was a weekend fisherman, a member of the Fort George Robins football team, a storyteller. He retired after a life's work in the cigar business from Altadis (Consolidated Cigar Corporation) and as an active member of Teamsters Local 805. He was kind, generous, and not only believed that everyone deserved a chance to lead their best life, but was there for those who needed a helping hand. He was part of the greatest generation, and generously showed us how to aspire to greatness ourselves. He set the bar high. Services, Monday August 19 at 11:30am. Riverside Memorial Chapel 180 West 76th Street New York, NY 10023.
