Ronné Bonder Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 19 to Nov. 20, 2015.
1935 - 2015
Ronné Bonder died in early October, 2015 He was 80.

He was born on February 4, 1935 and spent his formative years in Milan, Italy. He was a notorious designer and idea man, always considering the 'what ifs' in life and acting on them as much as possible. He came to America at age 18 on the Andrea Doria speaking no English, and became a successful designer, commercial artist, and entrepreneur, running businesses in advertising, travel, costume jewelry and boutique liquor. He loved to be active, biking as a youth, and boating and playing tennis as an adult. He loved his cars and their smooth clean design lines. He was a mentor, a student of life, a friend, and he always had something to say about everything! He was always on the go.

He described himself as a something of a Lotus flower, something beautiful that grows up out of the dirt and mud. From a horrific start in the war in Europe, he persevered and created a beautiful life for himself.

He is survived by his children Mark and Lisa, and Lisa's two children, his grandchildren Jessica and Joseph.  He will be missed.

Ronnie was always an inspiration for me.
He was super supportive of my dad - who never was able to overcome his issues - but Ronnie was always there for him. And for me, he gave me a job in college running deliveries but became somewhat of a father figure. Ronnie's depth of knowledge of my religion was amazing! I will always remember him fondly and will say a prayer for him. God bless.

Salute to Ronné Bonder on this 5th Anniversary of his exit. A pleasure to have worked for him as a freelancer since the early 1980s, and continued up until he left us. He was my early training ground in design techniques, style, and typography. It was a pleasure to have known him, and an honor to be at his last honoring on the Westhampton beach, along with his family, close friends, and colleagues. Ciao Ronné Bonder...travel on!

I am just back in NYC after months away, and am greatly saddened to read of Ronne's death. We first met in the early 1970s when I came up from Bermuda as a CBS transfer from the local station. I became the new creative contact at CBS/VIACOM for Ronne, and boy what I learned in the many years I worked with him. I lived in Bermuda so most weekends I headed that way, and several weekends Ronne and Mark and Lisa came along, they all became like family to the McAteers. I have not seen him in several years and when last it was when his liquor sponsored the Breast Cancer Awareness week at SAKS. He is a legend to me, pushed me in many of the right directions creatively, and I can still hear that raspy voice when I think about creative choices. To Mark and Lisa, my sincere condolences on the death of your father. No one will ever replace his talents and "outside the box" look at life. Fondly, Karolynne McAteer

I am so saddened to hear of his passing. He was my first employer. He introduced me to the love of type & font creation & showed me how to use a ruling pen. He also came to my wedding in 1970. My deepest sympathy to Mark and Lisa.

Words cannot express how deeply crushed and saddened I was upon hearing of the passing of Ronné Bonder. A world class businessman of many artistic talents, jokes, and a Ferrari connoisseur, I considered Ronné a great mentor, teacher, guru, employer, and friend for nearly 35 years. I had years of dedicated service working freelance for him as a typesetter back in the early 1980s at his then busy E. 53rd St. design studio/travel agency, and currently assisted him with many of his newest projects all these years later. He was a man of quality that helped me immensely in developing my graphic design skills. Through his numerous phone calls and emails, he always had a new finishing touch of quality for an ad or design, that exposed more of his level of genius. By his example and coaching, I learned a lot, and appreciated the blessing of knowing him. He was AUTHENTICthe real raw deal and the best kind of training ground for biz, design, typography, and LIFEthat he enjoyed to the fullest! Don't make 'em like that anymore! He has left us, but I know he's still on the movejust someplace else. Hadn't seen him in a while, yet gonna miss his presence so very much. Much Love and Salutes to his memory.

My deepest and most heartfelt sympathies to Lisa, Mark, and to the extended family.

As you know, I loved your dad. I was blessed to have been his friend for forty years and I've never met anyone who had the character, courage, ambition, and creativity that Ronne' had. He taught me more than I can say and I will miss him for the rest of my life. He was a life-force unto himself and shared that with anyone willing to accept it.

G-d bless you all. I won't say "may he rest in peace" because I know that he is doing exactly that.
