WASHINGTON SYCIP Obituary
Ronald S. Lauder and Leonard A. Lauder, Co-Founders of the Joseph H. Lauder Institute of Management & International Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, mourn with much sadness the passing of Washington (Wash) SyCip, a Founding Governor of the Institute. Known for his leadership and warmth, Wash supported many Institute candidates over the decades, taking great pride in their success and serving as an advisor and friend. As one former student noted, without Wash having encouraged her family to send her to the Institute, she would have missed "the great opportunity and friendships of being a 'Lauderite.'" Said another, "He was a great mentor throughout my life. I will always be grateful for having known him." The Lauder family, too, is thankful to Wash for his friendship. He will be remembered and missed.
