JOHN HARRIS Obituary

HARRIS--John Andrews IV, of Berwyn, PA and Northeast Harbor, ME died unexpectedly from a fall on December 29, 2009 at the age of 81. Jay was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 12, 1928 the eldest son of John A Harris III and Elizabeth Flagler Harris. He graduated from Princeton University and obtained a Masters Degree in Government Administration from the University of Pennsylvania in 1966. Jay devoted the greater part of his life to environmental philanthropy, bringing his energy and foresight to organizations working on solutions to environmental problems worldwide. He called his foundation "Changing Horizons" because of his belief that the path to a successful future to our planet was one in which our priorities must always be changing to meet new challenges. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lawrie, sons, Shepard and Andy Harris of San Francisco, California, six grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Anne, and his brother, Henry.
