COURTNEY--Marie, at 72, at New York Hospital on April 21 after a short illness. Marie worked at The New York Times for more than 35 years, first as an assistant to A.H. Raskin and then to James Reston. She joined the staff of the foreign editor, James L. Greenfield, in the early 70s, and was soon promoted to an administrative position in which she served as friend and lifeline to hundreds of grateful foreign correspondents around the world until her retirement in 2001. It was a job she loved and one she carried out with huge energy, intelligence and dedication. She graduated from Fordham University. She is survived by her loving sisters Ellen McCarthy and Catherine Daly and nieces and nephews. Wake on Monday April 26th 4-8pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home (718-884-6100).
