MARK CHANKO Obituary

CHANKO--Mark S. We mourn Mark's sudden passing on April 29, 2011, at age 83. Mark was the devoted husband of Anita; affectionate and adored father of David (Joni), Ken (Barbara), Todd (Ami), Eric (Susan), and Pamela; doting grandpa of Daniel, Ariel, Nora, Nick, Samantha, Sasha, Gillian, and Eden. He served his country in the Korean War, was awarded the Haskins & Sells Gold Medal for scoring #1 in New York State on the CPA examination, and was an accomplished money manager. Mark was an adept tennis player, avid bridge player, and a lover of theater and the arts. He will be dearly missed. I wish to pass on my deepest sympathies to the family of Mark Chanko. Although I was not privileged to know Mr. Chanko, I have gotten to know his son Eric well. His son's compassion as a physician is testament to his upbringing. I know that Mark Chanko will be missed by all that knew him.

I can't begin to fathom this deep and sudden loss by my old friend Pamela and her family. Though I never met Mr. Chanko, I can imagine how wonderful he must have been based on the daughter he raised. My condolences go out to the Chanko family.

All sympathy and wishes for peace and at this time. Over the last 20-plus years of my friendship with his wonderful daughter, I had occasion to meet him now and again, and he was a truly kind, loving, and gentle man. My heart and my prayers are with you all.

My deepest condolences to the Chanko family. I did not know him, but I can tell he was a wonderful man, judging by his daughter. His spirit lives on in those he raised, and the lives touched by his entire family. I count myself lucky to be among those. Peace and healing to all his loved ones.
