To my beautiful sister I will always remember your laughter and times spent together with Dad in San Francisco. You had such a big heart, I will miss you always, your always in my heart. When I look up at the sky I see you in heaven with the Lord. You were such blessing in our life, we miss you everyday. Your like a butterfly flying in heaven, an Angel. Love you, you'll be forever missed. Love you sister.

I'm blessed to have known Peter. I just learned of his passing and I'm challenged by the task of defining what it was about him that made him the special kind of guy he was. I began caring for his trees in Stockbridge when he was 80. Here was this wonderful, spry, brilliant gentleman: lover of all creation, an essential slice of which is trees and all the patience and stature they represent. He could relate to that. What a great man!!! They don't make them like that anymore. I'll truly miss him and his grace. My heart goes out to his family.

I too attended 'his' Junior High on Sussex Avenue( and even 3rd grade ). He also was our guest speaker when I graduated from Gill in 1965. He wore his family's historic mantle with noble strength, and his politics
( along with Millicent Fenwick and my parents) were what started me out in my voting career as a Republican. Although I have lived in Alaska for almost 40 years, and haven't voted Rep. for even longer, as an 11th generation Jersey gal, I STILL follow the Freylinghuysen politics with pride. Peter B, you will long be missed.

I went to the junior high school named after him. The least I could do was add a page to our web site that had graduation photos from those days (1973 and 1974). Here's the link: http://www.cromwellcrew.com/HighSchool.html

Hello Rodney

My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I remember your dad, back in the old days of the fight against a proposed jetport and other causes.
I retired from the Daily Record in 1988 and moved to Newcastle ME two years later. I tried to reach you a few years ago but your website says you don't accept messages from those outside of NJ. Too bad. Best regards, Loretta Boeche

While I know, you helped many people, in 1956, as our Congressman, you recommended me for the Postmastership at the then Hanover Post Office in East Hanover Township. Trusting in the full faith and allegiance of my then legendary Republican leaders,
Hilda Dixon and Marietta Griffith, you submitted my name forward to President Dwight D. Eisenhower for eventual confirmation in the United States Senate!

I Thanked You Then! I Thank You Again, and I add,
May God Speed You to Your Earned Reward!!!!

I worked for Peter when he owned Twin Oaks Tennis Center in Morristown, NJ. I was a seminary student at Drew University and as Night Manager working with Bill Banks, Peter provided me income and a place of peace to do some studying for seminary in the early 1970's. Bless he and his family for all they have done for NJ. Rev.Thomas L. Shanklin, United Methodist Church, Retired

My Father passed away in 2008, but was a Princeton Classmate (1938) and had a longtime friendship with Peter. What a great class they had, and what class they had. The stature and bearing of our parent's generation will not been seen again. Sincere condolences to Rodney and the entire Frelinghuysen family.

I am a sixty-year old retired teacher. I remember as a child shaking hands with Mr. Frelinghuysen at a political gathering in Lake Hopatcong. My dad worked for the local newspaper and he brought me along and encouraged me forward to shake hands with the well-liked candidate. I didn't know him, so I put my hand out toward the wrong man. They all had a good laugh, but Mr. Frelinghuysen was very nice about it and offered to shake my hand anyway. I'm sorry to see he's passed, but glad of the memory of my dad and these men of the Great Generation who believed they could effect change and did. My condolences to the family.

To the Frelinghuysen Family, It was my distinct pleasure to know and campaign for the late congressman when I lived in Raritan. Every home we visted Peter was greated with love and respect. He earned the trust of all the people he represted because he was a man of his word and he treated everyone with respect no mater their station in life. The world is a better place because Peter Frelinghuysen lived amongst us. May his soul rest in Peace. Our family will be saying our special prayers for the respone of his soul.
