FISCHER--Walter. Walter Fischer, 75, died on June 13, 2011 in New York City following a two year battle with Melanoma. He is survived by his wife, Jill; children, Stefanie Sibilly and Dr. Gregory Fischer, M.D.; sister, Ursula Fischer-Hartmann; grandchildren, Caroline Sibilly, Josephine, Niels, and Nathaniel Fischer; son-in-law, Milton Sibilly; and daughter-in-law, Daniela Fischer. He emigrated from Switzerland to St. Thomas in 1962, joining the retail organization Little Switzerland, where, after assuming increasing responsibility within the organization, he was promoted to President and CEO. In 1967, he became a U.S. citizen, and in 1993 Walter joined the Rolex Watch Company in Geneva, with responsibilities for overseeing marketing and sales activities for Rolex in the Caribbean and Central America. In 1998, Walter was appointed President and CEO of Rolex Watch U.S.A. and retired in 2005. He was an avid sailor, former Commodore of the St. Thomas Yacht Club, member of the New York Yacht Club and was proud to have served as Chairman of the Board of St. Christopher's Inn.
