Tsirl was my so very special teacher and inspiration in papercutting. I am still cutting and exhibiting, at age 95...... with her as my guiding light.

Tsirl was my model, my inspiration, and will always be that very special person in my life. My interest in paper, papercutting was brought to fruition with her brilliant examples and teaching. In Stamford, Connecticut I presented an exhibit of American and Israeli papercut artists at the Jewish Community Center. (My committee at that time did not even know what papercuts were!) The exhibit was centered around Tsirl's work. She was a dear, dear person with amazing creativity.

I was so sorry to hear about Cecilia's passing. She, along with my mom, Louise, was a proud member of the "Semads" (dames spelled backwards). The Semads were a small group of women who became friends when they were 12 years old in Brooklyn, and stayed great friends for the rest of their lives. They taught me what friendship is all about. Over the years, Cecilia gave my mom many of her papercuts and watercolor paintings, and I have them all proudly displayed in my home. My love and condolences to Linda, Josh, and Niel, and I know that if my mom were alive, she'd want to say a very fond farewell to Cecilia "Semad."

Aunt Tsip was always kind to me, always, always, no matter what had transpired, she was there for me to talk with. I would think about her in wonder: a woman, a mother, a working artist. I am surprised at my feelings of loss. My love to her family.

Tsirl was a great, great friend for our mother. We were at Horace Mann with Josh and Neil, and our mothers had a friendship for the next 40 years. Joan enjoyed sharing Tsirl's art with people who appreciated its beauty and creativity. Our sincere sympathy for your loss.
