FLYNN--James K. (Jim), passed away of cardiac arrest, at home at the age of 63. Jim was born on September 16, 1948 and was welcomed into heaven by his parents, Daniel and Catherine Flynn on April 20, 2012. Jim supported and was an active alumni of Manhattan College. His serviced with the U.S. army which shorten as a result of injuries. As a disabled Veteran, Jim was co-owner of the popular Pinewood Bar and took over the family business, The FergusII Catering after the death of his father, both long standing establishments in Riverdale. After a long career in the Financial community which included positions with Bankers Trust, O'Neill & Feldman, LFRothschild & Company and finally Ameriprise. Jim then retired to his beach home at the Jersey Shore which was a "home away from home" for many of his friends and family. He will be deeply missed by his loving siblings Maureen Harrington, Donald Flynn (Alanna) Joan Nevin (Thomas), Kathleen Kelleher-Sheridan (Paul), and his Twin brother John (Christine). He will also be greatly missed by his 13 nieces, nephews and their families. Jim was a great history buff, loved the beauty of the New Jersey Shore, helping others and most of all his friends and family. Visiting hours will be held at the Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, New York on Tuesday, April 24, 7:00 to 9:00pm; Wednesday, April 25, 2:00-5:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will take place on Thursday, April 26 at 9:45am at Saint Margaret of Cortona in Bronx, NY followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of floral remembrances, donations can be made to the KIND Foundation, 4880 Donald Ross Road, Suite 110, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida 33418. This charity assists children with learning disabilities and is already being supported by our families.
