PARKER REGAN Obituary

REGAN--Parker MacVeigh, beloved son of R. Christopher and Leslie Conway Regan, died suddenly on August 3rd, 2012 in a vehicular accident while vacationing in Montana. He was 19 and a resident of Mendham, NJ, and Amenia, NY. Raised in Bronxville, NY, and Mendham, Parker attended the Bronxville School, the Winston School, the Rumsey Hall School and had recently graduated from Suffield Academy. At Suffield, he was an honors student, squash player and golfer, earning five varsity letters in his three-year tenure. He was to begin his freshman year at Gettysburg College later this month. Those who knew Parker described him as personable, cheerful and considerate; he had a warm smile and made sure those around him felt loved, appreciated, and happy. Charles Cahn III, Suffield's Headmaster, commented that Parker was "a wonderful young man…talented, thoughtful and very engaging," adding that "everyone at Suffield loved him and…he was a major success story at our school." David Rockwell, Parker's advisor at Suffield, praised his work ethic in the classroom and on the playing field, noting that "He knew what he needed to do, and he did it." While Parker's life ended prematurely, he was at one of his brightest moments, having enjoyed a wealth of rich experiences and accomplishments. Parker was an avid outdoorsman who particularly enjoyed fly-fishing and scuba diving trips with family and friends. Above all, Parker enjoyed spending time with his loving family. Born on May 6, 1993, Parker was the youngest of four children. He is survived by his parents, his brother Brendan C. Regan and sisters Rebecca C. Regan and A. Tersey Regan, all of New York, NY, two grandmothers Prudence S. Regan of Watch Hill, RI, and Phyllis T. Conway of New Vernon, NJ, and sixteen cousins. He leaves a rich legacy of warm friendships and selfless contributions to the families he knew and the communities in which he lived. Services will be held Saturday, August 18th at 11am at Christ The King Church in New Vernon, NJ. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Scenic Hudson, Inc, One Civic Center Plaza, Suite 200, Poughkeepsie, NY, 12601. The family requests that favorite memories, photos, or notes be submitted to: rememberingparker@ gmail.com. Online condolences can also be submitted to gcfuneralhome.com.

Leslie, I was shocked to look at today's Journal News and realize that you had suffered such a tragic loss. My deepest sympathy goes out to you and Chris. I spoke with my friend Natalie Derby today, whose son Serge was a friend of Parker's at Suffield, and she said he was a wonderful young man who they enjoyed having visit in Bridgehampton. I know that he is deeply missed.

Dear Leslie and Chris,
We are deeply saddened to hear about Parker. We loved having your family live just a few houses from ours back in Parker's early years in Bronxville, and we missed you when you moved away. Seeing Parker's picture as a handsome, smiling young man and reading about how he lit up every room he entered, we can see what an outstanding person he became. We are stunned and saddened by his death and we send you our heartfelt sympathy and prayers.

Our family is so sad about this tragedy for your family and everyone that knew and cherished Parker. My daughter Carly graduated with Parker and it was only yesterday that she was able to share with me that she ate breakfast every day with him and walked together each day to their math class and how that time with Parker was such a wonderful part of her day. Parker was so loved at Suffield and our sons and daughters were lucky and blessed to have him be part of their lives. We can not stop thinking of you all and this terrible tragedy and will keep you in our hearts . Susan Smith and Carly Smith family

I was blessed to have had Parker in my ceramics class at Rumsey Hall School, as well as work with him as the school's librarian. I will always remember his winning smile and warm personality. He was a very talented artist and made many lovely pots on the potter's wheel. I can still see the PR he always etched in the bottom of his pieces. I am so sorry for your loss. He was loved and respected by the students and faculty. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
