POTTS-FRANGUL--Nancy, accomplished Broadway costume designer died peacefully at home on September 30th in Fairfield, CT. She was 72. A truly talented artist, she will be mourned by her husband of 42 years, Emeritus Professor of Economics and Finance at Sacred Heart University, Ramzi Frangul and her son, Nadhim "Nazz" Frangul. Winner of numerous awards during her career, including four Tony Award nominations, Ms. Potts was a prolific and influential presence in American theater with over 50 productions to her credit. She is most noted for her costumes for the ground-breaking rock musical, "Hair", her work as the principal designer for New York's APA Phoenix Repertory Company as well as her Tony nominated designs for one of American opera's quintessential productions, "Porgy and Bess". In 2001, she came out of retirement to oversee the costumes for the revival of "Porgy and Bess" by the New York City Opera. The production, which used her original 1977 designs, was broadcast on "Live from Lincoln Center" on PBS. Funeral services have taken place in Connecticut.
