SUSAN FRIEDMAN Obituary

FRIEDMAN--Susan O. Susan O. Friedman, of New York City, and Lakeville, Connecticut on March 24th after a long and valiant fight with cancer. She was the only child of Simon and Ruth Ottinger, loving wife of K. Evan Friedman, mother to Kenneth and Dana, mother-in-law to Paul and Monique and grandmother to Elizabeth, Sophia, Joshua and Lauren. Susan was loved and respected by both family and friends for her generous spirit. She was arbiter of all things cultural in her much loved city of New York and family, friends, and friends of friends never hesitated to ask her to help them choose theater, dance, music, restaurants and all things cultural. Susan was always a city girl and graduated from Lenox School and then Barnard College. Susan devoted her life to helping others through the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services. Her last gift in life melded her interests in helping others experience the culture of New York through a gift to the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services to the Adult Mentally Ill program to take members to cultural events so that they could get more enjoyment from the city. She also gave of herself to many other non-profits over the years including Housatonic Mental Health Center and Chore Service. Susan enjoyed her time spent at the Cosmopolitan Club as Chair of the Theater Committee. Susan's love of theater extended to becoming an angel investor in several Broadway and Off-Broadway shows which she greatly enjoyed. She will be missed by family and friends alike. Friends may call at Frank E. Campbell The Funeral Chapel, Madison Ave at 81 St. on Wednesday March 27th from 5-8pm. Funeral Service at Frank E. Campbell on Thursday March 28th, 11:30am followed by a luncheon at Crown Restaurant. Donations in her memory may be made to the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services Adult Mentally Ill Program at www.JBFCS.org
