SCHWERIN--Doris (nee Halpern) of NYC, 90, died Sunday surrounded by family. Juilliard-trained composer, poet, playwright, novelist, and explorer of Truth and Feeling, her 1964 score for "Marco Millions" helped launch first season of theatre at Lincoln Center; 1976 memoir, "Diary of a Pigeon Watcher" received starred Kirkus review and was followed by Leanna (1978), Rainbow Walkers (1985), Cat and I (1990). To the Times, her writing was "alive with the rush of feeling and loss." She was predeceased by her husband Jules Schwerin, a filmmaker, and is survived by her son Chuck, and four grandchildren: Benjamin, Daniel, Joshua, Rachel.
