KROOP--Irving G., M.D. Dr. Kroop died peacefully yesterday at the age of 97. Dr. Kroop was born on November 19, 1915. He graduated City College of New York in 1935 and New York University Medical School in 1939. He was Chief of Cardiology at the Brooklyn Jewish Hospital and the Jewish Chronic Disease Hospital and a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Downstate Medical Center. Subsequently he was on the staff of Maimonides Medical Center. He was cardiologist for the New York City Police Department for 29 years and after that for New York City Employees Retirement Service. Beloved by his many patients for over 60 years. He is survived by his wife, Eugenie, his three children, Elizabeth, Steven and Susan, his four grandchildren, Benjamin and Robyn Shaffer and Jonathan and Benjamin Kroop, his son-in-law, David Shaffer, and daughter-in-law, Csilla Fuleki Kroop. The funeral will be held on July 21, 1pm at Sherman's Funeral Home, 1283 Coney Island Avenue, Brooklyn, New York.
