1917 - 2013
Elaine Bissell, of Rockland County New York, died on October 17, 2013.

She was born on October 18, 1917, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Harold Whitney Faulkner and Edwinna Faulkner. She was a graduate of the Goodman Theater School in Chicago. She also attended courses in film studies at New York University and wrote more than 50 network radio and television scripts. She worked for the Gannett Newspapers in Westchester County, New York as reporter, columnist, and restaurant critic, and retired as Lifestyles Editor. She was winner of The Penny-Missouri Award, Woman of the Year Award from B'nai Brith and City of New Rochelle, New York. She led journalism seminars at Manhattanville and Iona Colleges; published eight novels, including Family Fortunes published by St. Martin's Press, and four historical romance novels.

She is survived by her three daughters, Mary Jane Steimer, Kathleen Koster, and Susan McMahon, grandchildren Shannon Hatzichristos, Daniel and Peter Christofferson, Elissa Wood, and great grandchildren Daniel Christofferson, Jr., Whitney Hatzichristos, and Jaden Wood.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wyman Fisher Funeral Home, 100 Franklin Avenue, Pearl River, New York. Telephone: 845/735-2161.
