Warner was a classmate of mine in Saybrook College at Yale University. We graduated together. He was Phi Beta Kappa, a brilliant student, and went into the then-great School of International Relations at Yale for graduate studies. By the time he graduated, Yale had closed the International Relations Department and the professors scattered to the winds, some of the best going to Columbia and Princeton. Warner joined those who had gone to Columbia and what followed was an absolutely brilliant career. Yale's loss was Columbia's gain. His Yale friends will miss him. Condolences to his family.
