WILSON--Robert W. The Whitney Museum of American Art is greatly saddened by the loss of our beloved and outspoken Trustee Robert W. Wilson. Bob served on the Board for 35 years in many capacities including Vice Chairman, Vice President, Chairman of the Investment Committee and longtime member of the Executive Committee. He passionately believed in the risk-taking mission of the Whitney and was one of the Museum's most beneficent supporters in its 82 year history. His giving was always focused on motivating others to donate with equal generosity, evidenced by his $25 million challenge grant to the Museum's current capital campaign. Bob loved conservation of cultural legacies in all its manifestations and in 2000 spearheaded the funding for the Whitney's first Conservation Department. We will greatly miss his honesty, forthrightness, wicked sense of humor and willingness to call a spade a spade. He was a singular man; the hole he leaves will never be completely filled. Weinberg, Alice Pratt Brown Director
