WILSON--Robert W., World Monuments Fund pays tribute to Robert W. Wilson, visionary philanthropist whose generosity helped to secure the planet and its great cultural legacy. WMF Trustee since 1989, Robert Wilson helped the organization grow, placing targeted support behind critical preservation work the world. His Wilson Challenge to Conserve our Heritage created a global incentive for individuals and governments to invest in the conservation of monuments of outstanding significance. After a successful career in the financial sector, Wilson focused his life on using his wealth for the benefit of others present and future. WMF trustees, staff and worldwide partners will remember his wry humor, his penetrating intelligence, and his warm humanity. Nearly 200 sites around the world, preserved through the Wilson Challenge, will stand as a permanent legacy to his bold leadership. We regret his parting, but revere the example that he set.
