Learning that Brian lost his wife three years ago, I write now to express my condolences to him and his sons.
Brian and I are classmates from UAlbany and started our radio broadcasting careers almost 50 years ago on WSUA 640, the student radio station. His career is more illustrious than mine. I was on the air at two commercial stations but have worked mostly in print since high school graduation.
WSUA justifiably honored Brian with a distinguished alumni award at an alumni celebration I nominated him for the award. I enjoy listening to his show on an Echo speaker and on podcasts.

I'm just now learning of the passing of Victoria Dennis. I did not know her but I have listened to Brian virtually every day for many years. Brian, the loss to you and your family touches my heart. I have no doubt that your wife's loving and generous spirit lives on in you and your children and is a blessing that is through you, shared with those who you share your mornings and your heart with. May her memory always be a source of joy and blessings for you and all who love you.

Oh, Vicky, I am so so sad that you are gone. I did not hear this until now. You were a devoted parent who cared so deeply about your kids and their schools. You had great ideas about getting grants for MS 54 and your input was invaluable. The last time I saw you was too long ago-You were touring Bronx Science with Simon. I just thought you were a great gal, honest, genuine, no bull and just a lovely person. I will not forget you.

I'm so sad to learn of this. She sounds like an extraordinary person, which I know her husband is. It sounds like this family is built on values of community, wisdom, understanding, and love. We listeners are so blessed to share in your bounty. A million thanks, and much love.

I learned last night of your terrible loss, Brian, and though I never met Victoria, or even knew her name, I figured her to be a most remarkable person, based on who you are. I am so sad for your loss.

Those who were fortunate enough to know Vicki, knew that she was one of the most thoughtful people that they could ever meet. She welcomed and mentored us when we were new to the Special Music School and was the unifying force among a group of class parents that became lifelong friends. Vicki initiated parent potluck dinners that we continue to hold even though our children are no longer at SMS. We are so grateful that she and Brian came to the last one that was held last May. We will always remember Vicki with love and gratitude and we offer our love and support to "her guys."

And so she will come to the end
A little breathless I know,
And enter the realm of the Blest
Still laughing at life below,.....
She will pause at the threshold, smiling,
Where martyrs fearfully trod,
Then on tiptoe with anticipation
Step into the presence of God.
Brian I've never met you, but I love you, and my heartfelt condolences go out to you and your family on your great loss.

It was a pleasure knowing and working with Vicky here at the Food Bank for New York City. Over the past few years her and I have became very close and it deeply saddens me to know that when I walk into the office I will no longer be greeted by her gentle smile and warmheartedness. She has done an amazing job with those in our communities. She really believed in our mission, and worked very hard at it. She has been an inspiration to me and although she is no longer here on earth with us she will always hold a place near and dear to my heart. My condolences go out to her friends and most importantly her family.

Vicki was truly a special person. Her willingness to help others without giving a second thought was one of many attributes that made me respect her so. She volunteered her time in assisting New Yorkers in need of accessing food or any other needs at the Food Bank with so much passion. I will always miss her and her heart for assisting those in need. My tears go to heaven for I know she is there acting as our Angel. My condolences to her family.

Vicki was a frequent visitor at the Newby household when we were growing up in Mineola. She often came with Karen, and we called them "The Dennis Sisters." She was especially close to my brother Stuart, who attended her funeral today. I was there in spirit, too, and keep Vicki in my heart and in my prayers. Carolyn Newby Berger

Wasn't Vicki the perfectly balanced combination of the warm heart and the hard head? Of unstinting kindness and "cut the crap"? Her laughter was infectious but so was her impatience with unfairness. She lived her values and had the highest qualities of a mensch.

Vicki was such a community builder. Fellow parents at her sons' elementary school followed her leadership and were inspired by her example. She was a diplomat, a fighter, a strategist, a visionary, a consensus builder, a problem solver, a campaigner - stubborn, passionate, understanding, wise, knowledgeable, able to work with every group to help build a new institution that served children and families. Even those who knew her years ago are reeling at this loss, far too early. Heartbroken, we can only send deep sympathy to her close and loving family, of whom she was so proud. You should have had her for longer.

Vicki did so much to transform the PTA of the Special Music School. I will never forget her helpful guidance and leadership. She cared so much about recruiting disadvantaged children for the School, and worked hard to Make a difference. Her death is a major loss.
