ELLEN COHEN Obituary

COHEN--Ellen Eisenstadt. Giving, loving and selfless is how Ellen, who was lost to us far too soon on April 4, 2014, lived her life. Wife and life-partner of Herb, mother of Sharon and Bill Levin, Steven and Lisa Melmed Cohen and Rich Cohen and Jessica Medoff, grandmother of Matt, Madeline, David, Ethan, Emma, Elias, Hannah, Aaron, Nate and Micah, sister-in-law of Renee Blumenthal. Born on September 24, 1938, in the Midwood Section of Brooklyn, transplanted to Libertyville and Glencoe, Illinois, and most recently a resident of Delray Beach, Florida, Ellen was a graduate of NYU and spent her life as the business partner of Herb. But Ellen's true life work was being a support and inspiration to her family and all those who were lucky enough to know her. Her kindness and generosity were boundless. There was nothing that Ellen possessed that she would not willingly give away -- including her time, her compassion, her jewelry and her dinner if it would provide solace to another person. She enriched us all, and her absence will forever leave a hole in our hearts. Those wishing to honor Ellen's life are encouraged to contribute to the Bronfman Center of NYU, 7 East 10th Street, New York, NY. Funeral Services to be held at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 180 West 76th Street, New York, 11:45am, on Sunday, April 6, 2014.

Dear Sharon,
We can't begin to express our deepest sympathy to you, Herb, the siblings, Bill and your precious children. After recently losing Steve's dad a week ago, "G-d rest his soul", we are quickly reminded of the process you are trying to make sense of and the feelings of loss, grief and disbelief. When this chapter of life ends we are quickly reminded we return to G-d. Even the smallest amount of faith is all we need to help us to carry through. I believe our loved ones soul is out of their sick, tired body and they are pain free and perfect and back with G-d. I believe Ellen has gone home. You were a wonderful daughter to her. I also know the love between you was mutual and you were strong for one another. I know you will miss her. I know she will live through you every day of your life. Ellen's memory will live in you and she will be remembered because of you. The Klinger Family sends you light and love through this difficult time. With love, Steve, Kim, Jessica and Katherine Klinger
