ISRAELI A. JAFFE

JAFFE--Israeli Aaron, born Brooklyn, December 21, 1927, passed away September 24, 2014, at New York Presbyterian Hospital, where he was an Attending Physician in Rheumatology for several decades. He was also Professor of Clinical Medicine at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University. Dr. Jaffe graduated from New York University in 1947, and from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, in 1950. He was a Master of the American College of Rheumatology, and received Lifetime Achievement Awards from the New York Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation (2006) and the New York State Rheumatology Society (2014). Ray, as many called him, had many passions, including a love for classical music and fine stereo equipment. He was also a connoisseur of fine wines and a skilled photographer. He leaves his beloved wife Judith; daughters Naomi, Audrey, and Carrie and their husbands David, Peter, and Emmett, and two adored grandchildren, Eli and Seth. The family asks that memorial gifts be directed to the Department of Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center, 630 West 168th Street, New York, NY 10032. A memorial service will be held at Frank E. Campbell (1076 Madison Avenue) on Saturday, October 11 at 3:30pm.
