EVERETT FISHER Obituary

FISHER--Everett.

Everett Fisher, 94, died on January 5th, 2015, in Greenwich, CT, the town where he was born to Henry J. and Alice A. Fisher. A graduate of Greenwich Country Day School; Fay School; Phillips Academy, Andover; Yale University; and Yale Law School, Everett served in the Navy during WWII. He was a practicing attorney who was still dropping in at the office three weeks before he died. Lively, intelligent, witty, and loyal, Everett was widely respected for his scrupulous integrity. He sought out bipartisan discussions, collaborative solutions. He collected presidential autographs; belonged to golf clubs in Scotland, England, Bermuda, and the US; went fly fishing in Alaska, Iceland, and Patagonia; and received numerous awards recognizing his quiet investment in improving the lives of those with fewer opportunities than he had had. He was a longtime trustee of many of those organizations, predominant among them The First Tee of Connecticut, USSGA Memorial Scholarship Fund, Round Hill Scholarship Fund, and Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich. He also served on the board of International College in Beirut, Lebanon; as President of Round Hill Club; and as Chair of the Greenwich Board of Estimate and Taxation. Everett was married for over fifty years to Catherine Marshall, who had grown up next door to him, and they had two daughters, Catherine Fisher Field and Emily Trenholm Fisher. Catherine Marshall Fisher died in 1997, and in 2002 he married Mary Applegate Reigeluth, formerly of New Haven. In addition to his wife Mary, Everett is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Eliot Field and Evan Griswold; four beloved grandchildren, Jesse Field and Molly Field James, Oliver Griswold and Andrew Griswold, and their spouses, Reade, Ellen, and Marcie; his great- grandchildren, Stella Field, Katherine and Halsted James, Amelia and Isobel Griswold, and Simon and Milo Griswold; and four supportive stepchildren. A memorial service for Everett will be held in Greenwich on Monday, January 12, 2015, at Round Hill Community Church at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in Everett's name be made to The First Tee of Connecticut, Round Hill Community Church, or USSGA Memorial Scholarship Fund.

I practiced law with Everett's firm for nearly ten years and served with him in town government. He was a true gentleman, a distinguished attorney, a model citizen and a valued friend. He will be missed.

My condolences to Mary and the entire Fisher family. I had the pleasure of knowing Everett through our mutual affiliations with the CSGA, The First Tee of Ct., and the R&A. Everett was a GREAT man, a true gentleman and always a wonderful source of inspiration and sage advice. Sorry for this cliché, but when we sought Everett's counsel he was always deliberate and right to the correct point. "When Everett spoke all would listen"
Sincerely
