I just learned of Norm's passing. It saddens me greatly. I have so many wonderful memories of our years together at Stanford. He was a major force in my life and I cherish the memories.

I was saddened to learn yesterday of Norman's passing. I send my deepest sympathies to the Nie family.
Having used SPSS for many years I was aware of Norman Nie. I had the privilege of getting to know Norman while I worked at Knowledge Networks. I admired his zest for life as much as his professional and intellectual accomplishments. He will be missed by many, many people.

To the Nie Fmily,
It is with deep regret that I learned of the passing of Dr. Nye. I used his SPSS software and user manuals starting as a student in the late 1960s. SPSS became a part of my professional life because of its ease of use and the clarity of the manuals that Dr. Nye wrote. I can say I learned most of my statistics because of his work. I am now 67 years of age but still teach research methods in a doctoral program using SPSS. I never fail to mention how grateful I was to his contribution to the field of social science research.
May he rest in peace!
