LAWRENCE CLARK Obituary

CLARK--Lawrence David, Jr.

passed away at his home in New York City on April 27, 2016 at the age of 72. He was born in East Rochester, NY to Lawrence David Clark, Sr. and Josephine Furman Clark. He graduated from Harvard College in 1965, magna cum laude and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Harvard College Glee Club. He graduated from Harvard Law School in 1968 and moved to New York City to practice law. He was recognized as a leading attorney in the trust and estates field. He served as a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate counsel and was named a Best Lawyer and a Super Lawyer. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Carolyn Cochran Clark and his sons Gregory David Clark of Chattanooga, TN and Timothy Rogers Clark of Austin, TX, a brother Mark F. Clark (and wife Susan) of Belmont, MA, a sister Mary Clark Hess of Acton, MA and a first cousin Stephanie Harris of Rochester, NY. David served on the board of the Professional Children's School. He belonged to the University Club in New York City and the Maidstone Club in East Hampton, NY. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 11am at All Souls Unitarian Church, 1157 Lexington Ave. (at 80th Street), New York City. Burial will follow in the Cedar Lawn Cemetery in East Hampton, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Professional Children's School, 132 W. 60th St, NY, NY 10023 Attn: Mr. Chris Haley.

Not everyone is blessed with having a person like Dave be a member of his/her grade school and high school class, and then remain a lifelong friend. Dave's passing leaves a hollow spot in our close-knit family of classmates.

Carolyn: I am so saddened to learn of David's death and send you my deepest sympathies. What a wonderfully warm and generous man he was and with such a lovely sense of humor. So many people including me will miss him dearly and his delightful spirit.
