CHARLES MURPHY Obituary
Paulson & Co. Inc. mourns the passing of our colleague Charles W. Murphy, an exceptionally gifted executive and great friend. A Partner of our firm since 2010, Charles led many of the firm's investments in the insurance and financial sectors. Charles began his career at Goldman Sachs (1985-1990) then joined Morgan Stanley as a Managing Director in the Financial Institutions Group (1990-2000). After ten years at Morgan Stanley he moved to London where he led the Financial Institutions Group at Deutsche Bank (2001-2005) and then at Credit Suisse (2005-2007). Charles grew up in New York City and attended The Buckley School and Hunter College High School. He received his BS in Economics from Columbia University in 1981, his MBA from MIT in 1984, and JD from Harvard Law School in 1985. We will forever miss his wisdom, dedication and humanity. Our heartfelt sympathies are with his wife, children and the rest of his family.
