ANTHONY STOUT Obituary

STOUT--Anthony Carder,

died on May 30, 2017 days after celebrating his 78th birthday with his family beside him. He attended St. Paul's School in Concord, NH where he later served on the board of directors, and Williams College playing football, hockey and rowing crew at both. He received graduate degrees from Harvard Law School and the London School of Economics. Tony founded the highly regarded political magazine National Journal in 1969. In 1989, honoring his father's service in WWII, Tony started The Battle of Normandy Foundation which raised significant funds to help build the Battle of Normandy Museum in Caen, France. For his efforts he was awarded the Legion d'Honneur Chevalier by Francois Mitterand, then the President of France. He will be greatly missed by his five children: Craig, Carder, Antonia, Julie and Marcus; and his seven grandchildren. The family is planning a service to celebrate his life sometime in the early fall, although a date has not yet been determined.
