ALAN CORRE Obituary

CORRE--Rabbi Dr. Alan D.

The Yeshiva University family is saddened by the passing of Rabbi Dr. Alan D. Corre, the beloved father of YU alumnus, Isaac Corre, who with his wife, Diana Newman, are YU Guardians. Rabbi Dr. Alan D. Corre was a highly esteemed scholar of Ancient Medieval Hebrew, Semitic Languages, and Linguistics. He was ordained in London by The Haham, Rabbi Dr. Solomon Gaon, Chief Rabbi of Sephardic Congregations of the British Commonwealth. Dr. Gaon later became the founding director and Professor of Yeshiva University's Sephardic Studies Program. Rabbi Corre served Congregation Mikveh Israel in Philadelphia for eight years. He was a cherished friend and delivered a lecture at Yeshiva University and contributed to its Sephardic studies journal, The American Sephardi. Heartfelt condolences are extended to his wife, M. Nita Levy Corre, their children and entire family. May they find comfort among all who mourn for Zion and Jerusalem. Min Hashamayim tenuhamu.
