It was a pleasure to have known and worked with John for several decades. Not only was he funny and clever, he was always most generous with his time, and had considerable knowledge of so many subjects and people. Good memories of him playing boules with our 12 year old son in the Netherlands.
Very best wishes and sympathy to his extended family abroad.

A distinguished gentleman who was loved and will be missed by many. I am proud to be related to John, he was my Dad's cousin their mothers were sisters who were born in Tasmania. I stayed with John and his mother when I first moved to New Zealand from Tasmania in 1973. Photo attached is John with his mother and my dad taken that year. Regretfully I am unable to attend Johns funeral. My thoughts are with everyone who will no doubt miss John as I will. Sincere condolences to all. Ngarie Huggins (nee Howard).
