He taught me trumpet in Auburn when I was 12. He was patient and a very good mentor for me.

Dr. Walls was a great musician and mentor. He taught me so much about playing and marching and just being a member of the Auburn Bands. He will be missed greatly and leaves all of us with wonderful memories at Auburn. God bless his family during this time of sorrow and always.

Dr. Walls was a true mentor. He did so many things for all of us that helped us learn personal discipline, prepare for careers and make dates. He left a great legacy, serving AU and the profession with distinction. He'll be missed and always remembered with love and admiration.

Dr. Walls will always remain a strong part of my college memories of being in the band and as a majorette. His drive for excellence was never more evident than at band camp and practice during football seasons. Running back to the sidelines to practice yet again the same segment of a halftime show or pregame in the hot Auburn sunshine will forever remind me of the pursuit of perfection that Dr. Walls and all of us worked to achieve in the Auburn University marching band. His legacy is ,in part, the memories we all share of that quest for success in our pregame and halftime programs.and in camaraderie we developed striving for that common goal with Dr. Walls' leadership.

Dr. WAlls was a part of my music life at Auburn. I'll always remember our trip to the Bluebonnet Bowl in Houston. We gave him a copy of "Little Women" so he would "look the other way" while we did those crazy things college kids are known to do. He was a wonderful teacher and mentor to all who knew him.
