ODESSA Michael Edward "Eddie" Chance was born in Odessa, TX, to Michael and Cathy Chance on December 18th, 1975.
He died Saturday, December 8th, in a truck accident near Cuba, N.M., ten days before his 32nd birthday. Eddie was employed as regional manager for San-Jan Hot Shot and Transport.
The thing that Eddie valued most in life was his family, but he also leaves a huge multitude of friends. He graduated from Permian in 1994, where he was the starting center and Team Captain of the varsity football team. He excelled academically as well. He attended Texas A&M University
and graduated from Tarleton State University, but Eddie was always an Aggie at heart. He was a member of St. Andrews Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Eddie was known and loved by many. Anyone who met him could sense his strong love of life and moral character. The multitude of friends that Eddie has left across the states is a testament to that character and to his charisma, loyalty and grand sense of humor. He loved social outings and was an inspiration of laughter and good times, but he was as well a serious friend for life to all who were fortunate enough to call him a friend. Eddie enjoyed good music, especially classic and Texas country. He loved to hunt, fish, play cards, and stay up late telling stories with his friends.
Besides those many, many friends, Eddie Chance is survived by his parents, Michael and Cathy of Odessa; his grandparents, Ralph and Betty Langston of Odessa; aunt, Suzie White of Denver, CO; aunt and uncle, Beth and Eddie Stanton of Odessa; cousins, Mandy Clark and Brandon Stanton of Odessa; and girlfriend, Ana Blackwell of Stephenville, TX.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at The Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Odessa, Jimmy Braswell officiating. In lieu of flowers please remember Eddie by contributing to Harmony Home of Odessa or to the charity of your choice.
Services are entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
