Carl Tindol Obituary

ODESSA Carl Edward Tindol, age 69, of Odessa, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 8, 2010.

Carl was born April 25, 1940, to Wilburn and Margaret Tindol in Ryan, Okla. He had been a resident of Odessa since the 1950s and graduated from Odessa High in 1958. Carl married the love of his life, Betty Johnson, on May 29, 1960, at Temple Baptist Church in Odessa. They would have celebrated their 50th anniversary this year.

Carl spent most of his career as a construction superintendent for several companies, the last being Sunland Construction. He taught values and earned respect from all who knew him or worked with him.
Words cannot express the love and pride he had for his family. He never missed the chance to see his sons or grandchildren in any activity they participated in. Carl loved to go hunting with his sons and grandson and always had open arms for his granddaughters. However, no one touched his heart and life more than his wife, Betty.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, Delbert and Dolly Johnson; brother, Benny Darryll; sisters, Juanita Faye, Yvonne 'Dinkie" Green, and Billie Marie Curtis.

He is survived by wife, Betty; sons, Gordon and wife Sherri, Thomas and James Tindol, all of Odessa; grandchildren, April, U.S.M.C. Lt. Cpl. Brant and wife Nikou and Teysha Tindol; great-grandchildren, Sonny Revel and Harlow Tindol; his very special sister-in-law, Tommie Dugger and husband Larry of Batesville, Ark.; brothers, Charles and wife Judy of Mobile, Ala., Junior and wife Diana, Ricky and wife Diane all of Odessa; sisters, Sandra Sweeden of Odessa and Mary Grantham of Houston; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and great nephews and nieces.

Visitation with the family is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 2010, at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2010, in Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gayle Walters officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Gordon, Thomas, James and Brant Tindol, Terry, Larry and Bobby Dugger and Donnie and Dusty Talley.

To our loving Dad and Papa: What lies behind him and lies before are tiny matters compared to what lies within him.

The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the family, friends and nurses at MCH during Carl's time of need.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. To sign the guest book, go to our website at www.sunsetodessa.com.

To Betty and Family, We are so sorry to here of Carls passing. As you are well aware, he touched so many lives and gave so much of himself in everything he did. He was my Mentor. I learned from him what it takes to do the best job you know how to do. The world is a emptier place without him in it but I know he and Dad are whooping it up talking over old times. Our thoughts and are prayers are with you and all the Tendol family. What a wonderful legacy he left behind.

Betty I am truly sorry for your loss. He was a good man to know and to work for. He always had a story (to say the least) to tell. He gave me my first job in construction in 1985 at the TU plant here in Monahans. One thing about "Ojo's Grande" he never forgot the ones that worked for him nor the ones that gave 100%. He was a pleasure to work with and to know. I will miss him.
Tell the boy’s that God must have had an important project to call on Tindol.
