Paul George Houghton

ODESSA Paul George Houghton, age 63, entered into rest in the arms of our Lord, surrounded by those who loved him deeply, on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at the family home in Odessa. He was born in Hamlin, TX on February 1, 1948 to the late Ernest Houghton and Martha (Braggs) Houghton. Paul married the love of his life, Rita Elaine Barron, at the Foursquare Church in Odessa on November 27, 1965. He was a machinist and had worked for several years for Meither Machine. Paul and Rita worshiped at Grace Fellowship Church.

Paul was the epitome of a family man. Family was everything to him. He loved without condition and instilled that same love, compassion, and respect for one another in his family. His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Paul was welcomed into Heaven by his daughter-in-law, Billie Houghton.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years: Rita Houghton and five children: David Houghton, Melissa Johnson and husband Dwayne, Kerris Flowers and husband Warren, Ernest Houghton and wife Myna and Martha McDougle, all of Odessa; three sisters: Ann Croom of Odessa, Thelma Dunfee of Roswell, NM and Velma Nichols of Portales, NM; one brother: Lee Houghton of Orange; twelve grandchildren: Melissa Nicole Johnson, Timothy Paul Houghton, Katyn Elizabeth Armstrong, Joshua Dwayne Johnson, Lainey Bre-Anne McDougle, Ryan Wayne Houghton, Billy Landon Blake McDougle, Matthew Tate Houghton, Caleb Aaron Johnson, Kelsey Makaylee Houghton, Warren Dale Flowers III "Trey," Marisa Brooke Fierro, all of Odessa; two honorary grandchildren: Jordan Elizabeth Carvajal and Andrew Oscar Carvajal, both of Conroe, TX; one great-grandchild: Evan Daniel Sandoval and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family visitation will be Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Acres West Funeral Chapel from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be at Acres West Funeral Chapel at 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 18, 2012, Pastor Robert Lamb, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
