Charles began his 63 year career in the oil business working as a District Manager for Lucey Products in 1950. He worked in oilfield equipment sales, geology, land, and oil and gas operations. As part of his equipment sales work, Charles traveled as one of the first passengers to fly into Alaska. He also traveled throughout the western United States.
In the mid 1960s Charles began work as an independent oilfield equipment salesman and transitioned into owning and operating his own oil and gas wells. Because of his extensive knowledge and expertise in the business, his professional advice was sought by numerous colleagues and friends. Charles was a mentor to many in the community.
His family was especially important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them both at home and in the mountains of Lake City, Colorado. Charles was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Odessa, where he taught Sunday School and served as an Elder, Deacon, and Trustee. He also served on the Committee of Ministry for the Presbytery of Tres Rios. Charles was an active supporter of the arts in Odessa and the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center.
Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Marian Hughes Jones, his son-in-law, Robert Lowe, his grandson, Keith Bingham, Jr., and his parents, Charles and Seabie Jones.
