ODESSA Delbert Richard Copeland, age 93, of Odessa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village in Odessa. |
He was born in Walters, Okla., on Christmas Day, December 25, 1920, to the late Sidney and Maggie (Pack) Copeland.
He married Frances Ramey in Oklahoma City on May 26, 1944. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and worked as a pumper for Union 76.
Mr. Copeland was a member of Second Baptist Church of Andrews. He was a humorous man, who loved to tease people. He enjoyed fishing.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons: Gary Copeland and wife Marie of Big Spring and Ronnie Copeland and wife Della of Odessa; daughter: Debra Hopper and husband Gaile of Odessa; brothers: Royce Copeland and wife June of Denver, Colo., and Kenneth Copeland and wife Odessa of Chickasha, Okla.; seven grandchildren: Robert Copeland and wife Shirley, Michael Copeland and wife Rachel, Suzette Copeland, Nichole Adams and husband Ben, Jeffery Copeland, Jennifer Jones, and Daniel Hopper; and four great-grandchildren: Ashley Jones, Christopher Jones, Braden Adams and Gillian Adams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Frances, brother: Nathaniel, and his sister: Verna Mae.
Funeral services will be 10 am Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Westover Baptist Church of Odessa, officiated by the Rev. Terry Wright. Delbert will be laid to rest with Frances following the funeral service at Andrews West Cemetery in Andrews.
