MCKINNEY Donna Teakell Jones went peacefully to heaven on Thursday morning, January 24, 2013.|
Donna was born October 8, 1963, in Odessa, Texas, to Gladys and Louis Teakell.
Donna was a beautiful person inside and out but never seemed to know it, which made her even more special. She was very serious about her education, graduating #7 in her class at Permian High School and Magna Cum Laude at Angelo State University.
She became a grade school teacher and made a terrific impact on her students and their parents. She taught accelerated science and math at McNeil Elementary in McKinney, Texas.
Donna was Captain of the Basketball team at Permian High School, and she married Mike Jones (The Love of her Life), a basketball coach at St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas.
At the time of her home going, Mike was the girls' basketball coach at Trenton High School. She was his most loyal and loudest supporter.
Donna's children, Caitlin, Cameron and Madison, along with grandson, Tatum, will miss all that love she showed them. Donna was an inspiration to many as she fought a battle against cancer. Her motto was, "Grace Under Pressure," and she lived it out to the fullest.
Donna leaves behind parents, Louis and Gladys Teakell; husband, Mike Jones; children, Cameron, Caitlin & Madison; brother, Robb Teakell & wife Leann Teakell; brother, Randy Teakell & wife Sheila Teakell; sister, Vicki Watkins & husband Gary Watkins; sister, Debbie May & husband Doug May; grandson, Tatum & her "Big Donna"; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends, too numerous to name.
Her celebration of life was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Hope Fellowship (McKinney, Texas) with her dear Pastor John McKinzie officiating.
