HOBBS, N.M. James F. Shults, 79, of Hobbs, NM, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013 in San Angelo, Texas. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Hobbs with Pastor David Downs officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday the 10th at Griffin Funeral Home in Hobbs.
Mr. Shults was born on April 8, 1933 in Midland, Texas to Johnny and Lillie Rutherford Shults. He served his country in the United States Army in the 51st Airborn during the Korean War. Mr. Shults married Melba Rutledge on April 8, 1986, and they celebrated over 26 years of wonderful marriage. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and barbequeing. Mr. Shults loved his church and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Freeman; daughter, Pamela Sue Shults; and 9 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Melba of the home; daughter, Vicke Alvarado; son, Johnny Shults and his wife, Pam; sister, Myrtle Cuthbert; 8 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family through Griffin Funeral Home, 401 N. Dalmont, Hobbs, NM 88240, or Immanuel Baptist Church, 130 W. Roxana, Hobbs, NM 88240.
