Jim Cleveland Obituary
ALBANY Jim Cleveland, age 87, of Albany, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 10th, in the Albany Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. October 10th, at First Baptist Church with Rev. John Tunnell & Rev. Bob Knowles officiating.
James Arthur Cleveland was born July 25, 1926, in Union, Mississippi, to parents, Arthur Lee Cleveland & Mildred Mapp Cleveland. Being younger than required, Jim had to have permission to join the United States Navy during World War II. He served in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged on March 22, 1946. After the war, he moved from Mississippi to Odessa and met his soon to be bride, Billie Henderson. They lived in Odessa for over 60 years before moving to Albany in 2008. Jim was a Master Mason for 60 years, a member of the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang and a member of First Baptist Church of Odessa.
Jim worked over 40 years for Broncho Chevrolet and was known and trusted throughout West Texas for his relationship with his customers. He sold hundreds of vehicles to fleet customers who would call and tell him what they wanted and to deliver it with an invoice, knowing he would treat them fairly and honestly. Upon retirement, Jim sold RV's for Blakeley's RV's in Odessa. The legacy Jim leaves is in his children and the relationships he enjoyed. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Billie Cleveland; his parents, Arthur & Mildred Cleveland; one brother, Madison Lee Cleveland; two sisters, Frances Everett and Thyra Walker.
Jim is survived by his two sons, James Cleveland II & wife Judy of Wenatchee, Washington, David Cleveland & wife Monica of Albany; one daughter, Martha Munos & husband Ronnie of Houston; five grandchildren, Amanda Cleveland of Wenatchee, Washington, Stephanie Gleitz & husband Stephen of Houston, Jeffery Munos of San Francisco, California, Jacob Cleveland of Albany, Lacey Anderson & husband Ramby of Albany; and eight great grandchildren.
