ODESSA Luther Harrell Sizemore, age 88, of Odessa, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in Odessa.

Harrell was born in Purcell, Oklahoma, to Claud and Dora Sizemore on March 19, 1925, and was raised in White Oak, Texas.

Shortly after graduating high school, he joined the United States Air Force, where he became a B-29 pilot. Upon discharge from the Air Force he met Bobbie Welch in Fort Worth, Texas. Shortly thereafter, they wed on January 1, 1946, in Kermit, Texas. They moved to Denver City, Texas, in 1947, where he went to work for Shell Oil Company. While living in Denver City their two children, John and Judy, were born. After being transferred to Odessa in 1965, Harrell became the maintenance superintendent at the Shell Oil TXL Gasoline Plant in Notrees, Texas, until his retirement in 1984. After retirement they moved to Ruidoso, New Mexico, in 1985 and lived there until 2003, when they returned to Odessa to be closer to family.

Harrell will be remembered for his undying love for family and friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandkids and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie, in 2004; his parents; brother, Haley; and sister, Frances Stanley. He is survived by one sister, Lenore Phillips of Vernon, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, John and Kathy Sizemore of Nocona, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Doug Smith of Odessa; four granddaughters, Suzann Griffin, Julie Davis, Jennifer Minyard, and Rebecca Sizemore; and six great-grandchildren, Jase, Bodie, Ava, Miley, Miles, and Graham.
