ODESSA Robert R. "Bobby" Hightower, age 78, of Odessa, went Home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Hospice House of Odessa. |
He was born in Henrietta, TX, on December 2, 1934, to the late Leo Rollie Hightower and Maggie (Kemp) Hightower. He was a retired machinist and a US Army Veteran.
Bobby was an outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. Never idle, after his first retirement from the oilfield, Bobby owned and operated a shrimp boat in Port Aransas for about 10 years, then returned to Odessa and trained to be a machinist. For their 50th anniversary, he and Ilene went on a cruise to Cozumel. He loved to build and repair hot rods and always kept his yard immaculate. If you called him at any given day or time, he would always say he was about to mow or water. Bobby also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and watching greyhound races.
Those left to cherish his memory are son: Earl Dewayne Hightower and wife Lena of Hobbs, NM; daughter: Robin Paige and husband Dennis of Kissimmee, FL; sister: Sandra Owens of Odessa; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He also leaves behind his little min-pin friend and companion, Pepper; nephew: Darren Hightower; niece: Deanna Crouch; favorite cousin, Betty Bean of Wichita Falls; and brother through love, Elmer Stearns of Odessa.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife: Ilene Fay Hightower; his parents; an infant daughter: Fonda Elaine Hightower; and two brothers: Marvin and David Odell Hightower.
