Betty Jo Stinson Harridge Obituary
KERMIT Betty Jo was born on July 15, 1928 in Gorman, Texas, to Laughlin "Bud" Stinson and Bonnie Choate. At an early age the family and Betty Jo moved to Kermit, Texas. Betty went to Kermit schools all her life and graduated from Kermit High School in 1945. While in school she was a drum major and was on the tennis team. After graduation she went to secretarial school at Texas Tech and worked at various jobs. Betty Jo married Cecil Faye Don Harridge on April 17, 1949, at the Community Church in Kermit. This happy couple had three children. She was the Assistant Auditor for Winkler County until she retired. She was very active in the community. She was very active right up to 2011 in the American Legion Auxiliary, where she held the posts of President, Vice President, and Secretary/Treasurer. She was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a big volunteer in the Kermit Chamber of Commerce, as well as being a proud member of Women on Wheels Motorcycle Association. Betty Jo was very involved with the Kermit High School Alum, serving as her Class President and going on to host the entire Reunion. She was currently the President of the Winkler County Historical Commission. Whenever anyone needed a hand they could always count on Betty Jo.
Betty Jo was called Home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 31, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cecil, and one daughter, Donna Jo.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Son Don Harridge and wife Gayla of Seminole, TX; her daughter Bettye Lynn Humphries and husband Robin of Midland, TX; her brother: Kenneth Stinson and wife Sammy of Grape Creek, TX; five grandchildren: Justin and wife Tiffany Humphries of Midland, TX, Ashley and husband Steve White of Lubbock, TX, Jennifer and husband Brandon Taylor of San Diego, CA, Amber Harridge of Andrews, Texas, and Zachary and wife Whitley Humphries of San Diego, CA; six great-grandchildren; and her good friend: Stefani Haley of Kermit.
Family will receive friends and visitors from 6:00 -8:00 pm Wednesday, January 2, 2012, at Family Services Funeral Parlor in Kermit. Funeral Services will be 2:00 Thursday, January 3, 2013, at the Community Church in Kermit with John Edgar Haley conducting. Pallbearers will be: Justin Humphries, Zachary Humphries, Brandon Taylor, John Stinson, Buddy Stinson and Tommy Stinson. Honorary Pallbearers are: Mark Haley, Alan Haley, Mike Vaughn, and Rodney Turnbow. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa and Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit. Condolences to the family may be sent online at acreswest
