David Houghton Obituary

ODESSA David Paul Houghton, age 46, of Odessa, passed from this life and into eternal peace on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, TX.

David was born October 24, 1966 the first of five children born to Paul and Rita Houghton.

He graduated from Odessa High School in 1985 and worked for Amphenal Steward Enterprises for more than 25 years. David married the late Billie Faye Stokes in June of 1988. In July of 1990, David and Billie were blessed with a son, Timothy Paul Houghton.

David was a kind and generous man. He was tenderhearted and completely dedicated to his family and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. David was a hard worker. He worked for the same company from the time he was in high school until his death, working his way up from entry level to supervisor. David often kept to himself, but had a keen sense of humor that drew people to him. He enjoyed pranks and telling jokes. Making people laugh brought him great joy. He was a diehard Cowboys fan. Good, bad, or ugly, he always backed "the Boys." David could often be found wearing Harley Davidson gear. He enjoyed riding and many of his friends knew him only as "Heavy-D."

David is preceded in death by his loving wife: Billie Faye Houghton; his son: Timothy Paul Houghton; and his father: Paul George Houghton. He leaves his memories to be cherished by his mother: Rita Houghton; sisters: Melissa Johnson and husband Dwayne, Kerris Flowers and husband Warren and Martha McDougle; and brother: Ernest Houghton and wife Myna, all of Odessa, Texas. He leaves behind many adoring nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends at Acres West Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Vine Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Robert Lamb. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and condolences may be sent to the family online at acreswestfuneral.com.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to David's friends at the Cotton Patch Lounge and to his coworkers at Amphenal Steward for the friendship, kindness, and compassion you extended to David.
