Derek Thomas Barringer

ODESSA Derek Thomas Barringer, age 27, of Andrews, passed away in Andrews on Sunday, October 23, 2011. He was born in Llano, Texas on January 12, 1984. He worked as a floor hand and derrick hand in the oil drilling industry. He was a member of Terrace Hills Baptist Church.

Derek was a laid back, fun-loving person, who could always keep everyone laughing. He was the life of the party and had lots of friends. He enjoyed road trips and fishing and was a big Texas Longhorns and Cowboys fan. His kids were his pride and joy and he was crazy about them.

Derek is survived by his mother and step-father: Debra and Chuck Hayes of Odessa; father: Larry ""Woody"" Harrelson of Odessa; one daughter: Taylor Grace Barringer of Denton, NC and Taylor's mother: Laura Brookshire of Odessa; one son: Dax Skot Barringer and Dax's mother: Randa Mathis, both of Odessa; grandfather and step-grandmother: Walter and Joyce Stice of Midlothian; grandmother and step-grandfather: John and Linda Penner of Valley View; two brothers: Jason Barringer of Silver Valley, NC and step-brother: Henry John Hayes of Winston Salem, NC; step-sister: Nicole Melinda Hayes of Winston Salem, NC; and a favorite uncle: Gary Harrelson of Odessa.

Family visitation at Acres West Funeral Chapel will be on Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 6:30 to 9:00 pm. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Friday, October 28, 2011, at Terrace Hills Baptist Church, officiated by Scottie Stice and Donnie Reeves.
