Jerry Moore Obituary

CORPUS CHRISTI Jerry Moore died peacefully at Christus Spohn Dubuis Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, with his friend, Frank Minski, at his side.

He was born Oct. 12, 1943, to Perry L. and Juanita R. Moore in Levelland, Texas. He was raised in Denver City, Texas, and graduated from West Texas State University with a degree in speech pathology. Jerry lived in Texas, New Mexico and California and traveled extensively throughout his years. He loved life, people and animals. He was gifted in his abilities with animals, interior decorating and photography. His God-given gift was with children.
Although he had no children of his own, he blessed many children with speech, vision and hearing through his abilities and charities.

When you fell down, he not only picked you up, he dusted you off, embraced you and made sure you were strong enough to stand on your own before he let you go.

He is survived by his friend, Frank Minski of Corpus Christi, Texas; his brothers, Joe W. Moore and wife Janiece of Fort Davis, Texas, and Bob Moore and wife Beverly of Eastland, Texas; sister, Rita Louis of Shamrock, Texas; one aunt, Johnny Moore; nephews, Terry Don, Mike, Mitch and Mark Louis and Joe Bob and John Moore; niece, Julia Graham; ex sister-in-law, Sheila Moore; and several cousins, great-nephews, great-nieces and many colleagues and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Juanita Moore; and a nephew, Jim Moore.

A celebration in remembrance of his life will be scheduled at a later date.

I really miss my "old" neighbors since you both retired and moved away. I have so many, many wonderful memories of visits with Jerry and don't think there was a subject he couldn't discuss. He truly had a place in his heart for his students and a special talent and compassion for them and their needs. He'll leave a big void with his absence. Anita Elms, Odessa

"Me Mo", the "kids" and I will miss you. What great times we had with the children over the years and the many wonderful "kid" stories we told. You are loved.

Frank, my heartfelt condolences on Jerry's passing. He was a wonderful person and always full of smiles. His photography skills live on through photos of our youth at church during key moments of our lives. Now those pictures will hold an even more special meaning because of the person who took them -- Jerry, rest in peace.

Jerry was a colleague, a friend, and like a brother to me. I've known him for more than twenty five years...... and like everyone who knew him, I've loved him for his big heart, the twinkle in his eyes, and his kindness to others. He was a special person who befriended everyone he knew. His generosity of spirit and zest for life will be sorely missed.
