Leonard LeRoy Betzel Obituary
ODESSA - Leonard LeRoy Betzel 77, of Odessa, TX, went to be with The Lord on Saturday, September 29, 2018.

Leonard was born on September 25, 1941, the youngest son of Russell and Pauline Betzel, born in Kansas City, KS. Leonard had two older brothers, Russell Betzel Jr. and George Betzel and two sisters, Nancy Kuhlmann and Linda Elsea.

Leonard graduated from Washington High School in 1959 and joined the Air Force. He was an Air Police Officer and Sentry dog trainer while serving. He became a father for the first time while serving in the Air Force. He lived in Clovis, NM. He moved to Pampa, TX and worked as a finance manager. He moved around a few times before settling in Odessa, TX. He met and married Cathy Lewis, the love of his life and was married for 43 wonderful and blissful years. They had a child together.

He enjoyed motorcycles, riding horses and old cars. He could sell ice to an Eskimo. He worked, successfully as a salesman for many many years and retired in 2003. He loved playing pool and enjoyed going to the American Legion and dancing with his wife. He never met a stranger. He had so many friends and people who adored him.

He is preceded in death by both his parents, both of his brothers and numerous friends.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Betzel; his sisters, Nancy Kuhlmann and Linda Elsea; daughters, Deanna Lucero of Mesa, AZ, Michelle Betzel of Scottsdale, AZ, and Stefanie and husband Derek Fillipan of Schaumburg, IL; son, Patrick Betzel and wife Alicia; granddaughters, Janae Lucero of Phoenix, AZ, Ashley Blake and husband CJ of Billings, MT, Sabrina Betzel and Mason Davis of Tempe, AZ, Shannon McDade of Tempe, AZ, Raegan Betzel of Tempe, AZ; grandson, Triston Betzel of Tempe, AZ and twin grandsons Logan and Quinn Fillipan of Schaumburg, IL. He had numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He also had many many friends who he loved dearly.

Special thank you to Star Hospice for their caring nurses who took great care of him during his final months.

A celebration of Leonard's life will be held Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel.
