Ora Lovina "Billie" Jackson Obituary
BOERNE - Ora Lovina Jackson, age 96, died on Sept. 8, 2018 in Boerne, TX. A graveside service will be held at the Lovington, NM cemetery at 10:00 AM Mountain time on Saturday, September 15, 2018.

Ora, known by friends and family as "Billie", was born in Pearl, NM on Oct. 9, 1921 to David Crockett Jackson and Ora Willis Jackson. Because Billie's mother died shortly after childbirth, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Eva and Francis Payton of Hobbs, NM. Billie spent her early years in Hobbs where she owned and managed a small hotel. After departing Hobbs, Billie moved to Odessa, TX where one of her sisters, Mildred Price, resided. Billie lived for many years in Odessa until moving to Boerne, TX in 2015 to be near family. She loved to travel abroad and managed to experience many different cultures. According to a wall map of the world she kept, where she placed pins in every place she visited, she managed to see over 87 sites in 29 different countries. Only Africa, South America, Russia, India and Greenland seemed to have escaped her travels.

Billie is survived by her niece Barbara Young, nephews Gary Joiner and Jay Joiner, grandniece Pamela Luciani, and grandnephew Shawn Joiner, all of Boerne, TX, and grandnephew Marc Young of Dripping Springs, TX. She also is survived by her grandnephew Morgan Lee Price of Lower Burrell, PA.

Billie was preceded in death by her father, David C. Jackson, and her mother, Ora Willis Jackson, both of Pearl, NM; her aunt, Eva Payton of Hobbs, NM; two sisters, Thelma Joiner Gorney of Boerne, TX and Mildred Price of Odessa, TX; and her nephew, David Price of Las Vegas, NV.

The family would like to express their gratitude to her oncologist, Dr. Stephen Kalter, who provided excellent medical support along with a caring attitude during her struggles with cancer.

Instead of floral remembrances, the family suggests that donations be made to the to honor Billie's memory.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the staff of Holt & Holt Funeral Home of Boerne. To share words of comfort with the family, please visit www.holtfh.com.
