He grew up in El Paso, Texas and moved to Odessa, where he met and married the love of his life, Jennifer Herring on March 16, 1984. He started out in the oilfield but soon found his passion was teaching. He blessed Odessa with 20 years of service at ECISD. He was also an avid volunteer with the harp program at Ector Junior High and Odessa High School for 7 years.
