MONAHANS Opal Mae Dorrell, age 82, of Monahans passed from this life on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Hospice House of Odessa.

She was one of three daughters of Raby Charles Swope and Mattie Mae Stapp Swope; born in San Angelo, TX on March 24, 1930.

Opal married Kenneth Dorrell in Grandfalls, TX on December 23, 1944, beginning a journey together of almost 68 years.

Although Opal hated to travel, she did enjoy an occasional trip to Ruidoso Downs to enjoy the horse races. She also enjoyed square dancing and bowling with the Crane league. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband: Kenneth Dorrell of Monahans; daughter: Maxie Ruth Langdon of Odessa; brother-in-laws: Gilbert Hughes of Tallahassee, FL. and Fred Lynch of Wichita Falls, Tx.; two grandchildren: James Byron( Jay) Kinsey of Odessa and Kenneth Daniel( Danny) Kinsey of Monahans; three great-grandchildren: Ashley Kinsey of Odessa, Kymberlin Kinsey of Iraan, and Randy Kinsey of Austin; and two great-great grandchildren: Christian Scott Kinsey and Daniel Alexander Kinsey, both of Austin; 3 nieces and 1 nephew.

Her parents, two sisters: Maxine Hughes and Ruth Lynch; and a nephew preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday, May 7, 2012 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W. University, in Odessa, officiated by Pastor Brian Serrano. Interment will follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery in Monahans, TX. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and condolences to the family may be sent online at acreswestfuneral.com
