Bobbie Jack Grissom Obituary
EDNA, TX Bobbie Jack Grissom, of Edna, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012 at the age of 90.

He was born in Alvord, Texas on February 13, 1922, to the late William Lee and Mattie Pierce Grissom.

B.J. Grissom is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joy Gasaway Grissom, married in Andrews, Texas in 1946. B.J. moved to Andrews to work for Magnolia Oil Co. after serving in U.S. Army Air Corps in 1946 as a B-17 Bomber Pilot in WWII. Serving his country and being a B-17 pilot was B.J.'s fondest memory.

For 44 years B.J. was the model for having strong work ethics in the oilfield. As owner of Grissom Field Service in Odessa Texas, training and leading other mechanics into the same career paths was one of B.J.'s most admirable tributes.

One of B.J.'s greatest achievements and legacy to Jackson County is the R.V. Park "Southern Oaks" that he and his wife and family built in 1983. Bob and Joy moved to Jackson County to open an R.V. Park from Odessa-Midland where they lived for many years. They sold the park in 2002.

B.J. is also survived by his sons, Kelly Grissom (Susi) of Edna and Terry Grissom (Boogie) of Houston; daughter, Penny Bonnot (John Mark) of Coppell; grandchildren, Angelia Malek (Jon), Jennifer Price, Matthew Grissom (Heather), Courtney Grissom, Derric Bonnot (Meagan), Kevin Bonnot; great grandchildren, Brendon and Carson Price, William and Michael Malek, Matthew, Mark and Emily Grissom, Jordan Grissom, Levi and Ollie Bonnot.

B.J. is preceded in death by his brothers, James and William Lee Grissom Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, June19, 2012, at Oaklawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Edna.

Pallbearers will be his two son's Kelly and Terry and his grandson's Matthew, Courtney, Derric and Kevin.

Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, 12672 Silicon Drive, Suite 105
San Antonio, TX 78249.

Military honors will be conducted under the auspice of the American Legion Post 346, Ganado, Texas.
